Technical Writer III Consultant via the State of Wisconsin Vendor IT Vendor Managed Services Contract # 505ENT-M21-SERVICESIT-01 (RFP #28310-MH) The project consists of the creation of a Service Catalog for our internal customers at Madison College. The project will include the identification and development of services within our Technology Services Department (20-22 distinct groupings). We

need one (1) technical writer than can help with the brainstorming sessions to identify and document services for capturing within the Service Catalog.

Qualifications:
  • Proven written and oral communication skills in technology and working with technical individuals
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Ability to multi-task and be a self-starter
  • Familiarity with services consumed by end users in the technical field
  • ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) level understanding
  • 5 or more years of experience in technical writing
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures as it relates to technology services
  • Ability to work independently in gathering information and then creating documentation
  • Ability to pay attention to details and ensure service definitions are clear from a customer standpoint
  • Ability to review technical material for consistency and accuracy

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Assist internal project team to define/document services in the Technology Services area of Madison College
  • Participate/lead workshops of technical staff to include:
    • 20+ workshops – 1 for each group/area of Technology Services
    • Ask questions to cull definitions and service descriptions
    • Capture/document services for inclusion in a Service Catalog
    • Write documentation for Services from a customer/non-technical standpoint
    • Ensure service as captured meets the needs of TS staff
    • Review/obtain sign-off from SME for all TS services
    • Utilize templates to populate Service Catalog
    • Assist staff members in defining services and populating catalog
  • Manage, foster, and develop team relationships
  • Be a collaborative and transparent team member

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: ResumeTechnical Writer III capabilities with

5 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. The anticipated duration of this engagement is through June 30, 2023, with a possible extension. The consultant should be prepared to start by

September 19th, 2022, or possibly earlier.

Preference: local candidates preferred, but open to candidates that live in a drivable distance for occasional meetings. Qualified candidates may be invited for an interview prior to the due date or the following week. interviews will be via Teams.

Flexible remote work being offered, with occasional visits to campus for meetings, special events, etc.Madison College may choose to use the results of this process for additional projects this fiscal year.

The successful candidate may have to undergo a drug test and background check.
