Staying true to Savannah Bee’s mission, Ted Dennard, Owner and President, is using his expanded reach to educate more people about the wonder of the honeybee. In 2013, he founded the Bee Cause Project to stimulate curiosity in young people about the importance of honey bees in our lives, and the need to understand and embrace them and to care about their well-being through the installation of beehives in 1,000 schools. He regularly speaks with various organizations, garden clubs, and loves teaching kids (and adults) about honeybees. Ted’s lifelong passion for honeybees is seen in his company, the specialty honey, and the luxurious, beehive-based body care products he distributes. Today, Savannah Bee Company is work to maintain quality and improve systems while expanding the company’s reach. Ted’s hope is that Savannah Bee Company emulates a beehive where all his business touches is benefitted.
The Key Holder is responsible for opening and/or closing the store and ensuring that proper store procedures and policies are followed when store management is not on duty or unavailable on the floor. The Key Holder will supervise all employees and oversee sales, merchandising, guest service and all operational functions in the absence of store management. The position is not considered management, however an entry level supervisor position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include assisting in but not limited to the following:
Supervise employees to complete tasks and achieve goals in the absence of store management.
Manage sales floor and drives retail and mead: addressing guest concerns push customer service, coaching employees, and mitigating product loss in the absence of store management.
Ensure that daily merchandising flexing process, daily replenishment process, and store cleanliness standards are properly executed when opening or closing, for front and back of store.
Open and closes the store following proper procedures documented in the opening and closing checklist.
Ensure that registers are properly opened and closed, doors are opened and locked and alarms are set correctly. Protecting company assets at all times.
Confirm that deposit slips, spreadsheets, envelops and deposit bags are correctly filled out and discrepancies are reconciled and cleared by accounting. Make sure management is made of aware of any errors.
Cashier responsibilities such as return, exchange and check approvals, issue of merchandise credits are within store policy.
Remain current on all company policies and ensures that all policies, standards and procedures are maintained and followed in a consistent manner.
Stays current and up-to-date on all store systems and procedures. Stay current on all product knowledge, body care, and mead.
Ensure consist flow of communication is being maintain to store management.
Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Ability to process information and merchandise through computer system and POS register system
Ability to communicate with associates and guests
Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area, and register area
Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store
Ability to work varied hours/days to include nights, weekends and holidays.
High School Diploma or GED
2 years of progressively responsible retail experience; supervisory experience
Demonstrated competency in sales, products and service
Proven ability to motivate and lead diverse teams
Knowledge of retail merchandising practices
Solid communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment are essential.
Beekeeping experience or willingness to learn and love of honeybees
