The HR Administrator is responsible for providing human resources expertise in the areas of employee relations, workers’ compensation, implementation and administration of Leave of Absence programs, employment policies, safety, and regulatory and legal compliance. This position may also assist the Director of Operations in the development of HR programs to support the company’s strategic goals, objectives, and vision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential duties and responsibilities for the position include the items listed below. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Safety and Workers’ Compensation Duties

In collaboration with the Director of Operations, acts as a strategic partner by raising proactive issues with managers, identifying practical solutions to complex and diverse HR issues, and recommending appropriate action plans.

Responsible for administering the company’s workers’ compensation program including maintaining a close relationship with both the carrier and broker, as well as loss control services.

Reports all workers’ compensation incidents in a timely manner and acts as the main point of contact for all related incidents.

Provide assistance with and make recommendations regarding the company’s comprehensive safety program.

Leave of Absence Duties

Manages the leave process including meeting and noticing employees regarding their rights under PDL, FMLA and CFRA and maintains systems to track leave eligibility and time.

Manages ADA compliance when required.

Works with managers and employees regarding requests for accommodation.

Prepares and administers effective communication strategy on LOA program changes for all employees.

Record Keeping, Policy and Compliance Duties

Oversees the administration of the record keeping process by maintaining historical human resource records and designing an effective filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.

Ensures employee data is kept current in HRIS.

Takes ownership of the Employee Handbook, is fluent in its contents, and is responsible for maintaining and updating it as necessary.

Develop and administer all other relevant human resources policies and procedures.

Follows developments regarding current employment laws and reviews them, suggesting applicable changes as necessary.

Identifies the need for necessary policies and procedures to ensure a safe, organized, informed and empowered workforce.

Provides advice to managers regarding compliance and legal issues and acts as an advocate for employees when needed.

Directly leads or oversees compliance related investigations, including regarding complaints of harassment, inappropriate behavior, drug or alcohol impairment, and safety related incidents.

May be called upon to assist other HR team members in areas such as employee relations, investigations, staffing, benefits (including annual open enrollment), training, payroll, onboarding, exit interviews, performance management, etc.

Miscellaneous Duties

Greets applicants at front-counter and briefly reviews the application once completed by applicant; contacts supervisor immediately when promising application is received.

Act as the HR lead for Workers’ Compensation and other related audits.

Marginal Duties

Adheres to office, safety, and security standards and all company policies and procedures in order to ensure company objectives are met.

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Performs other related projects as assigned.
