Structured Cabling - Low Voltage Systems Service Technician (Victor NY)

Vibe Communications, LLC is currently accepting applications for a Structured Cabling - Low Voltage Systems Service Technician.

The Structured Cabling - Low Voltage Systems Service Technician is responsible for installing, terminating, certifying, and documenting structured cabling networks in commercial environments. You will also be assisting in installing and commissioning a wide range of CCTV, Audio, Video, Security, Wireless Network, Data and Voice products and systems. As a customer-facing employee, the Structured Cabling - Low Voltage Systems Service Technician must be a personable, knowledgeable, self-starter capable of making sound decisions in the best interests of the customer, and Vibe Communications, LLC. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to work closely with sales and customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Work with CAT 5e, 6 twisted pair, optical fiber, coax, etc., including perform all cable pulling, suspension, fireproofing, terminating within national and local regulations

Installs voice, data, and other low voltage wiring and test and document accordingly

Understanding of cable management (codes, above ceiling, etc.)

Responsible for cleaning voice/data closets and keeping cable infrastructures neat and orderly

Maintains voice/data cable records and associated documentation

Build out of MDF and IDF (racks, patch panels, wire managers, network electronics, etc.)

Performs preventive maintenance on, Security, Alarm, Access Control, IPCCTV, Telecommunications, and other equipment

Responsible for on call duties

Responsible for installation, repair and maintenance of a variety of low voltage systems

Installation of paging systems, background music systems, other audio systems and equipment

Responsible for the installation or various video systems including TVs, video walls, digital signage, and video distribution systems

Assists with data network switching and voice network switching installations

Attends basic training on cable certification, access control, IPCCTV, and voice products

Maintains a working relationship with all staff with open communication

Responsible for work order/trouble ticket management and follow up

Responsible for keeping inventory of network/telecom and wiring equipment and material

Responsible for vendor returns (bad equipment, etc.)

Responsible for keeping up with tools and equipment

Assists with basic Project Management

Responsible for other duties as necessary

Skills and Experience:

Must have experience in structured cabling, IP/ Analog CCTV, HSIA and other low voltage technology

Technical Certifications in low voltage cabling and infrastructure systems are a plus

Understanding of BICSI/TIA/ ANSI cabling standards and codes

Understanding of copper and fiber cabling techniques and standards

Must be detail oriented and possess strong troubleshooting skills, with an ability to think independently.

Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment.

Must have minimum 3-5 years of proven experience in the installation of a technology field such as: voice, data, security, commercial audio, video or electrical.

Must have demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers.

Work well in both team and solitary environments, with an ability to handle a wide range of evolving responsibilities.

Must be able to read, and build from, signal flow wiring diagrams, floorplans, reflected ceiling plans and elevations.

Responsible and accountable for maintaining tools and any company provided property.

Be responsible and accountable for quality and integrity in own work, always looking out for the next guy that may need to service it.

Know what next steps or tasks on an installation that need to be done based upon the best interest of the customer and company.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Must have the ability to work nights and out of town as deemed necessary per project

Valid and clean driver’s license, maintaining a safe driving record.

A criminal background check will be conducted.
