Coordinate and evaluate complex sensor research and development activities to provide new and or improved biosensor products to support the business goals and objectives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and coordinate complex research in the area of biomedical sensor design and development to fulfill business goals and objectives.

Candidate will have specific expertise in the design and development of metabolite sensing systems including design and development of enzyme and membrane chemistries utilized in the accurate measurement of target analyses.

Provide expert analysis, testing and evaluation of complex sensor/system designs, sensor manufacturing processes and techniques, and patentable concepts.

Develop and execute detailed design of experiments (DOE) and subsequent interpretation and presentation of experimental data by creating clear and concise summary reports.

Possess expertise in the statistical analysis and presentation of complex scientific data. Project support personnel in the day-to-day research and development activities. Manage assigned projects to budget and timeline.

Experience in documentation requirements for design control of regulated medical device development including verification and validation development and execution, risk management activities including PFMEA, DFMEA and SFMEA and associated design control requirements.

Solve technical problems related to sensor design and associated manufacturing processes to achieve targeted performance, yields and/or costs.

Execute the integration of sensor designs into designated product platforms and provide expertise in the development of processes to support high volume manufacturing which achieves targeted performance, yield and costs.

Responsible for regular oral and written communication relating to progress and performance of Sensors Development projects including compiling of weekly/monthly summaries to support business objectives re business.

Responsible for the development of relevant schedules and budgets on assigned projects.

Key participant of interdisciplinary R&D team toward the development of novel sensor and membrane designs to support product development and innovation efforts.

Represent the company as a recognized expert in the area of biomedical sensors and continue to maintain expertise in the field by reading technical journals, attending seminars, and maintaining memberships in professional organizations.

Identify relevant consultants (both internal and external) or other resources based on project needs.

Develop Danaher Business System tool expertise in PSP (Problems Solving Process) and associated DBS tools such as VRK and 3P as needed per defined business needs.

Education, Experience and Skills

Minimum 5 years work experience, preferably in medical device industry

Prior experience in the area of biomedical sensor design and development

MS/PhD a plus BS Chemical, Biochemical or Engineering Sciences, or equivalent;

Expertise in statistical analysis software (JMP/Excel, etc.) and methods is necessary.

Must be able to read, write and fluently communicate in English.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Travel

Up to 10% travel may be required including some international travel.
