Assistant Director of Culinary and Campu

POSITION TITLE: Assistant Director of Culinary and Campus Store ServicesCLASSIFICATION: Exempt, Full time, 12 monthsSUMMARY:Under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Culinary Services, the Assistant Director ensures excellence incustomer experience and serves appealing and nutritious meals to students, employees, and guests. This position isresponsible for preparing and cooking meals, and additionally, developing catering and special event experiences. Thisposition will seek opportunities to gather feedback from students, employees, and guests and provide leadership to theoperations to adjust to and to exceed customer expectations. Shifts will include mornings, evenings and weekends(weekends will mostly be working Saturdays with the occasionally possibility of Sunday).SUMMARY OF DUTIESIn coordination with the Director of Culinary Services:? Prepare food, cook, clear tables, and serve food and drinks.? Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and garnishing and presentation of food in order to ensurethat food is prepared and presented in an acceptable manner.? Test cooked food by tasting and smelling it in order to ensure palatability and flavor conformity.? Establish and enforce nutritional standards for dining based on accepted industry standards.? Create specialty dishes and develop recipes to be used in dining facilities.? Greet students providing a warm and welcoming environment.? Manage inventory and order equipment and food supplies as needed.? Manage work schedules and train staff, if needed.? Schedule and receive food and beverage deliveries; verify product quality and quantity.? Record the number, type, and cost of items sold in order to determine which items may be unpopular or lessprofitable.? Ensure the services provided by the Dining Services are consistent with the needs of the customers.? Investigate and resolve complaints regarding food quality, service, or accommodations.? Keep records as required regarding sanitation, and food subsidies when appropriate.? Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving, and buildingmaintenance in dining facilities.? Work with Director to plan, coordinate and execute culinary-related events, such as admissions open housesand family weekend to support campus programs.? Schedule use of facilities or catering services for events such as banquets or receptions, and negotiate details ofarrangements with clients.? Serve coffee from coffee shop to customers including evenings and weekends to expand coffee shop hours.? Perform customer service activities such as retrieval and activation of student financial aid information, assistingcustomers in the purchase of books, computer software and hardware, calculators and/or supplies, and returnsor refunds merchandise as necessary. May be responsible to assist in fulfilling web orders.? Compile paperwork and enter pertinent information into the sales system regarding invoices, shipping, receivingand transfer of goods.? Assist in communicating with supply vendors for food service, coffee shop and in regards to the ordering ofcampus store products? Assist with oversight and training of student and hourly staff.? Assist in performing activities in preparation for closing in all areas including: counting cash register tills andpreparing deposits, printing reports reflecting daily sales, investigating and reconciling discrepancies and placingcash drawers into safe and securing doors.? Help keep the Student Center clean and products/merchandise displayed in an appealing manner.? Perform other related duties for the good of the College as assigned by the Director of Culinary and CampusStore Services.Required:? A high school diploma or equivalent.? Food industry experience.?
