Based in the Salinas, California region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted long-term temporary-to-full-time opportunity where effort is rewarded. In this role, the Staff Accountant is in charge of preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position will require a fair amount of time dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility during the monthly close. You'll also review schedules for the reporting processes, stay in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and play an active role in compliance.What you get to do every day

Take part in various department-wide initiatives

Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management

Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision

Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner

Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

Requirements

Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

Knowledgeable of ERP systems

Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

Recent and relevant accounting experience

Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

Strong familiarity with Full Cycle Payroll

Command of Accounts Receivable (AR)

Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)

Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
