Job Description

Position Overview

An individual that is knowledgeable in contemporary software development environments, manufacturing/shop floor-specific software development environments, database design and administration, and general manufacturing technologies and architecture. This position shall be the point person that bridges our Information Technology department and the Manufacturing Engineering department at a world-class manufacturer. Our onsite team of technology professionals is responsible for the design, development, and day-to-day operational care of software and relational databases within the Shop Floor environment.

We do not wish to be disrespectful—but for everyone’s benefit, please understand our need to be direct. Just because you can spell “shop floor”, you know what SCADA means, or you were a technician that supported PCs at a Manufacturer in a previous position, does not mean you are a capable developer that has the professional skills to be a point person on our team. We seek the person that

understands software and database development in a shop floor/manufacturing environment well enough to be a full participant in planning, coordinating, and completing this work. If you have never written software that was used in a real-time manufacturing process or created a relational database optimized for use in a heavy transactional environment—you are not our desired candidate. You must have the discipline to collect requirements, participate in the development scope documents, and complete work within the boundaries of an approved plan. We require a high degree of professionalism, attention to detail, and expert communication, as this position interfaces directly with our clients.

Responsibilities:

In-depth Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle

In-depth Knowledge of Database Design and Administration

In-depth Product Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio (including EF 6, C#.Net, VB.Net)

In-depth Product Experience with Microsoft SQL Server

In-depth Knowledge of a Manufacturing Shop Floor

Awareness of Contemporary Infrastructure Technology Concepts and Components

Serve as the Point Person for the IT Team for Shop Floor Activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (IT or Automated Manufacturing Preferred)
  • 5+ Years’ Experience in Software and Database Development
  • 2+ Years’ Experience in a Manufacturing Shop Floor Environment
  • Awareness of Technology Infrastructure/Networking Components
  • Awareness of SCADA and PAC Software Development
  • Awareness of Prints and Schematics (electronic and mechanical)
  • Genuine caring for people (we can’t add this to you—you have to bring it)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to serve as the point person for a team (i.e., represent the team in meetings)
  • Desire to make your team and the company the best in the world
