Job Description

The Sales Research & Insights Manager will play a key role in developing and managing a team of analysts both onshore and offshore that execute research initiatives and reports to the Merkle/DAN Growth teams. In this role, you will work across various DAN agencies and will gain a deep understanding of multiple products/solutions, verticals/industries, clients’ businesses, the motivations of their customers and target audiences, and the implications of trends within each industry. The Sales Research & Insights Manager/Director will support Merkle/DAN growth initiatives through research reports and other outputs. In addition, you will manage a research queue and work with analysts to ensure reports are developed and delivered.

To be successful in the Manager role, you will need both an analytical and a strategic mindset, as well as team leadership skills. This role requires the ability to compile, assess and synthesize data from various sources, to uncover consumer motivations from qualitative & quantitative research, and to tell a story about those findings through research reports.

Your day-to-day will include but not be limited to:

  • Performing industry and customer research, including competitive analyses, quarterly and annual trend reports and support for new business pitches
  • Developing detailed research reports across a range of verticals (e.g. retail, technology, financial services, media & entertainment, etc.)
  • Developing proficiency with a range of intelligence tools across different marketing channels (e.g. search, email, display)
  • Interfacing with US-based Merkle team to understand project requirements and present research outputs for different clients
  • Manage team members to deliver strategy projects correctly and on-time
  • Act as a subject matter expert for a growing team of analysts
  • Work closely with Merkle Client Strategy team leadership in the US to grow the analyst team and evolve research deliverables
  • Leadership and managerial responsibilities for a team of analysts

Qualifications

  • BA/B. Com in a research-, strategy-, or marketing-related field
  • 6-7 years in professional services within customer/market research, strategic planning or marketing
  • Experience working within a sales organization
  • Familiarity with customer intelligence and other marketing research tools
  • Results-oriented, customer-focused team leader
  • Adaptability, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to understand different agency/industry/business types, and customize research reports accordingly
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities to align with client strategic objectives and roadmap
  • Ability to understand and incorporate feedback on an iterative basis
  • Focused; a self-starter with experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills - proficiency in PowerPoint & Excel
