Job Description

Symbotic is seeking a talented, highly experienced mechanical integration engineer to join our Hardware Product Engineering team. In this role, you will lead conceptualizing, prototyping, designing, and releasing integrated assemblies. You will have exceptional spatial intuition and creativity demonstrated by previous accomplishments. You have the self-management skills and independent judgement to arrive at an optimized system design in an efficient manner. You pride yourself on your communication skills across the organization. Responsibilities:

  • Inventnovel, elegant, reliable solutions to highly integrated hardware systems for warehouse or material handling environments
  • Lead the conception, analysis, prototyping, detailed design, and validation of integrated mechanical assemblies
  • Research outside sources, evaluate and validate mechanical and structural components such as racking, conveyors, material lifts, and material handling equipment
  • Create quantitative trade studies to evaluate system designs and identify optimum solutions
  • Be an active, leading contributor in team brainstorming sessions
  • Contribute innovations that satisfy customer needs and enable new market opportunities
  • Perform tolerance analysis on complex assemblies, and create mechanical drawings
  • Create and manage Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in Arena PLM
  • Assist in assembling prototypes, testing, troubleshooting and implementing design changes
  • Define protocols, write test plans, and conduct the necessary testing required to validate the safety and effectiveness of the design(s)
  • Assist in building program plans and schedules to achieve milestones
  • Work seamlessly with cross-functional colleagues, from EE/Controls/MFG/Marketing
  • Communicate project status, hold design reviews, present to colleagues and product owners
  • Provide design guidance and feedback on colleagues’ work
  • Mentor junior engineering staff on team

Qualifications

  • BS minimum in Mechanical Engineering, with 8+ years of work experience in a hands-on integration role
    • Automated warehouse and material handling experience is strongly preferred

  • Full proficiency with SolidWorks is desired
  • Proficiency in creating assembly and installation drawings
  • Adept at project organization, planning, and prioritization
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Desire to take initiative and thrive in a fast paced environment is essential
