Job Description

Position Summary:

Perform duties to provide intravenous immunoglobulin therapy (IgG) to patients within a specific geographical territory, guided by precedent and working within the limits of established policies.

Essential Functions:

Communicate with Manager, Area Nurse and/or schedulers to coordinate schedules, patients, and availability. Review assignments to administer IgG therapy to patient, coordinate with pharmacy to receive infusion equipment and medication. Provide home infusion nursing care to patients in accordance with physician’s plan of treatment and Pharmacy’s policies and procedures. Set up equipment, prepare medication, and initiate infusion therapy. Observe and document patient response to therapy. Document communications with Pharmacist regarding drug information, infusion changes, pre-med requests, adverse events, or delivery issues. Document communications with Pharmacy Technician as needed to report damaged or malfunctioning equipment. Document communications with prescribers as needed to clarify prescription and report on patient response.

Other Duties:

Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Competency:

Proven results in the effective development of excellent patient relationships and confidence building through effective customer service skills. Demonstrated excellence in patient record documentation.

Demonstrated ability to operate any range of infusion equipment, and communicate effectively through smartphone technologies, and computing skills.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. Registered Nurse with current, unencumbered license in each state of the territory covered, either by compact licensure or endorsement if territory is not the state of residence. Some jurisdictions where this role is performed may require that associates have their compact RN license or are eligible to obtain their compact RN license. At least 3 years’ experience practicing in a clinical setting, including extended periods of time where assignments include intravenous skills and Ig therapy. 2 years of Ig therapy administration experience preferred. Must possess a current and valid driver’s license issued in the State where practicing and auto insurance. IgCN and/or CRNI preferred. CPR Certification required
