Butcher Shop Assistant Manager

Mountain Valley Meats is looking for an Assistant Manager. The position is full time, year round and must be available during the holidays (we are closed on New Years Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day).

Job Summary:

The assistant manager will work along side staff members to complete all opening and closing procedures. As well as producing, stocking and displaying meats, marinated items, sausages, prepared meals, retail items and any other production needed.

The assistant manager will be trained and responsible for ordering and receiving products as well as inspecting and logging the accuracy of shipment, temperature and quality.

Other duties include but are not limited to:

- Assessing, prioritizing and delegating tasks and production daily.

- Ensures consistency of products on display and in production.

- Maintaining organization, labeling, stacking and rotation of all meat and retail product (FIFO).

- Awareness of overstock/understock conditions to maintain ordering system integrity.

- Anticipation of sales and seasonal needs.

- Ensures cleanliness of cases, storage areas, and work areas for sanitation and safety.

- Maintaining proper safety practices and care are being used for cutting accessories and equipment in the shop.

- Ensures a high level of customer service is being provided by all staff and proper information is being delivered.

- Communicating with President, Executive Chef and Manager.

- Planning ahead for holiday items and production based off of previous years business.

- Managing staff and lunch breaks

Skills & Experience required:

- Previous supervisor or management experience

- Restaurant or kitchen experience

- Retail or sales experience is a plus

- Communication skills

- Knife skills and proper handling techniques

- Ability to prepare and follow recipes

- Butchery skills are a plus

Job Requirements:

- Ability to stand, walk and bend for up to 10 consecutive hours

- Ability to safely move and lift up to 50 lbs.
