Over the course of this structured six-month program, you will hone your skills and develop strong professional networks in the national security sector and across our Innovation Centers, helping solve critical national challenges. Job Responsibilities:

Working alongside MITRE mission specialists and engineers, you will be supporting national security sponsors while helping to design, develop, and implement solutions and technologies to address the cloud challenges of our government sponsors. You will learn about MITRE sponsor missions and apply your technical knowledge and skills to problem-solving and innovation. At the culmination of the New Professional Program, you will become part of MITRE’s National Security team focused on sponsor missions with a strong technical background enabling you to be a future leader in the company.

From design to operations, you will learn to apply cloud engineering expertise, innovative concepts, and technology solutions to address every facet of our sponsor's cloud challenges to include:

Applied cloud engineering

Cloud security

Cloud architecture

Cloud c omputing

Fog computing

Dev Sec Ops

Infrastructure Applications

Infrastructure as Code

XaaS

IaaS

PaaS

SaaS

Virtualization

Development of novel cloud capabilities

What are some examples of the projects that I might work on?

Researching emerging tools and capabilities to optimize cloud-enabled applications

Building cloud-native applications on a variety of security fabrics

Advising sponsors on the migration of applications to the cloud

Developing cloud migration strategies for large-scale cloud capabilities including dependencies and the incorporation of new services

Designing architectures and e ngaging in cloud security practices

Designing architectures that deliver cloud services to disconnected, intermittent, low- bandwidth ( DIL )  environments  

Prototyping global cloud-based Command and Control capabilities

Prototyping cloud penetration testing capabilities

What does an ideal MITRE New Professional Cloud Engineer have?

Hands-on experience gained from previous work experience or relevant intern/co-op work

Applied knowledge of cloud principles, tools, and devices

Proficiency in one or more of the cloud environments Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform , IBM Cloud and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Interdisciplinary background with at least of one of those disciplines being cybersecurity, computer science, computer engineering or a related technical field

Evidence of being a life-long learner, with a passion for the field

High-level desire to help our nation solve critical problems

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science and 2 years of related experience in cloud engineering , software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field or an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) with relevant experience who can immediately contribute

A bility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance

Demonstrated ability and desire to quickly learn and apply new technologies

Hands-on skills in at least one object-oriented, procedural, functional, or declarative programming language (e.g., Java, C/C/Objective-C/C#, Python, Go, JavaScript, Ruby)

Hands on experience in at least one cloud environment (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform , IBM Cloud or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure )

Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications :

Active Top Secret/SCI with polygraph clearance

BS and 5 years of related experience; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step

Experience working projects related to national security for one or more government agencies

Interdisciplinary background, with evidence of continual learning

Certificates with one or more commercial cloud offerings (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform , IBM Cloud or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure )

Experience with Dev Sec Ops tools such as Jenkins and GitHub

Experience with Python programm ing
