Job DescriptionJoin the Clean Energy RevolutionSouthern California Edison’s (SCE) Trading and Market Operations team is looking for a Resource Optimization Specialist to help us manage our diverse generation fleet. SCE manages an energy portfolio of 16,500 megawatts (MW) of generation resources, including energy storage, co-located solar and storage, renewables, large hydroelectric, demand response, and gas-fired resources. In this job, you will help SCE optimize this portfolio through the (California Independent System Operator) CAISO market to provide reliable clean energy and value for our customers.You will gain a deep understanding of the California energy markets, work effectively in a hybrid team setting, and develop strategies that maximize customer value and support grid reliability. Your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions, and create cleaner air for everyone. Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future?A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!Execute bidding strategies for SCE’s energy resources, that maximize customer value and support grid reliability;

Use dispatch optimization models for daily operational tasks, and propose improvements or additional analytical tools and methodologies, as needed;

Review the daily market awards and performance of generation assets and make process enhancements as necessary.

Support the onboarding of new generation resources into SCE’s portfolio and ensure all operating characteristics are represented accurately.

Provide support for SCE’s regulatory filings including demonstration of least cost dispatch in the annual Energy Resource Recovery Account (ERRA) filing.

Maintain a safety-conscious work environment.

QualificationsThe EssentialsThree (3) years of work experience preferably in an analytical role including financial modeling, statistical analysis, data science, or equivalent.

Experience working on cross-functional project teams, from project and resource planning to development of scope, schedule, and results delivery

Knowledge of, or interest in learning about, wholesale energy markets.

Ability to effectively engage in continuous learning and improvement.

Experience researching, analyzing, preparing reports, and making recommendations.

Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerBI, or other programming languages and visualization tools

The PreferredDegree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field

Experience in operational planning, trading, and/or analysis of power generation portfolios in deregulated wholesale power markets.

Understanding of the CAISO or other similar energy market designs

Experience with dispatch optimization tools such as Plexos or Portfolio Management

Experience presenting to clients, peers, management, and other departments.

You should know…Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.
