About this Role:As an engineering technician you will work on a multitude of projects in a highly dynamic workplace. Attention to detail and an ability to follow detailed instructions is important in this role. But we are also looking for a self-starter, who is willing to grow their skill set and actively improve our processes. Previous hands-on experience in a maker environment is required. Technical or engineering training of any kind is highly desirable.

What You’ll Do:
  • Operate fabrication and measurement equipment following detailed instructions from engineers
  • Manual assembly of complex systems using forceps and other hand tools
  • Document workflow in precise detail (including inspection results, measurements, and imaging) and present findings to team of engineers
  • Independently set up and perform experiments to achieve objectives communicated by engineers
  • Perform microscale device assembly and testing tasks in specialized environments (clean room, fume hood, glove box, etc.)
  • Organize lab space and perform support tasks for engineers
  • Actively seek out areas for process improvement and personal growth

What You’ll Need:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow complex process instructions
  • An eye for detail and organization in documenting your work
  • Ability to critically evaluate processes and make improvement recommendations
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Experience with office software (MS Office or Google Docs)
  • Hands-on hardware assembly experience (e.g., using forceps, soldering, etc.) and/or manufacturing experience (large or small scale shop tools)
  • Basic metrology or inspection experience (e.g., using calipers, micrometers, multimeters, etc.)
  • Eagerness to learn and take on more responsibilities over time

Bonus Points For:
  • Experience operating bench top lab electronics (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • Experience operating lab metrology instruments (microscopes, SEM, profilometers, etc.)
  • Experience operating semiconductor fabrication equipment (PVD, CVD, etc.)
  • Cleanroom or chemical lab experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience
