Find your future with us.The Sustainability & Future Mobility team is currently looking for a Sr. Manager, Sustainable Technologies Integration Project to join our team in one of several locations: El Segundo, CA, Huntington Beach, CA, Long Beach, CA, Seal Beach, CA, Seattle, WA, Renton, WA, Everett, WA, Berkeley, MO, Arlington, VA, Manassas, VA, Mesa, AZ, Oklahoma City, OK, Huntsville, AL, North Charleston, SC, or Cambridge, MA.Boeing's Sustainability & Future Mobility (S&FM) Team is driving research and technology development in order to support the success of Boeing's commitment to enable the industry to get to net zero carbon emissions by 2050. We are a Boeing Research and Technology team responsible for several significant technology development projects as well as an integration point for many ongoing technology development efforts across Boeing that will help reduce the industry's impact to climate change.The Sr. Manager will help shape and implement a long-term project including development and management of a series of technology feasibility, maturation and demonstration projects focused around hydrogen technologies for commercial aircraft. The projects will be both domestic and international and will include pursuit and leverage of significant external funding.The Senior Engineering Manager will be responsible for results of the technology development as well as integration of multiple sub-projects into integrated demonstrations. The ultimate results of the Sustainable Technologies Integration Project should be to progress development of key hydrogen aircraft systems and use model-based engineering and demonstration as tools to increase systems performance and integration technical capabilities. This leader will work with internal and external stakeholders to identify requirements, align research projects and partnerships, leverage external funding opportunities and build an integrated team.Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop a multi-year project including strategy and concept development for a series of technology feasibility, maturation and demonstration projects focused around hydrogen technologies for commercial aircraft
  • Support development of scope of work and execution of aligned projects
  • Collaborate with researchers and partner organization leaders to manage project implementation to achieve interim and long-term technology development objectives
  • Strategically integrate multiple projects into demonstration opportunities
  • Provide engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which includes direct-reporting S&FM engineers as well as project management and engineering teammates supporting from global research centers
  • Assign responsibility for activities to team members and ensures technical correctness and consistency of products and services.
  • Works with stakeholders and team leadership to obtain approval for work statement and funding. Identify and manage changes to statement of work and assesses the impact of those changes, and incorporates changes into statement of work.
  • Lead project execution to complete the work statement. Identifies performance metrics.
  • Plan, identify and coordinate resources required over the life of the project.
  • Compare actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned. Identify corrective actions to improve project or team performance.
  • Identify risk and opportunity potential, develops mitigation planning and refines the business case.
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years of experience in leading projects and/or teams
  • Experience collaborating and working across teams

  • Experience stating what is needed to persuade and convince others without causing defensiveness and to inspire others to act
  • Experience building relationships to gain support and commitment from others, promote ideas with enthusiasm, conviction, and assertiveness.
  • Experience understanding the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area
