POSITION SUMMARY: The Analytical Chemist in Oligonucleotide Process Development develops protocols for the analysis and characterization of individual oligonucleotides and oligonucleotide compositions in an FDA-QSR and ISO9001 compliant organization. Materials created during oligonucleotide development process are used in assay development on feasibility and development stages. Methods and procedures from oligonucleotide development are transferred to oligonucleotide production department.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs oligonucleotide purification using preparative HPLC instruments
Evaluates and verifies analytical methods for major components and impurities in various chemical compositions
Analyzes and interprets data from the following instruments: HPLC, LC-MS, UPLC-MS, UV-Vis, fluorescent spectroscopy and other methods for reagents characterization
Keeps good laboratory records, document process protocols, create SOPs and worksheets
Teams with manufacturing department on process transfer for developed procedures
TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES: (REQUIRED)
Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education and Experience (in years):
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry
1-2 years of related work experience in synthesis, purification or analysis of synthetic biomolecules
Knowledge and skills:
In depth understanding of purification and analysis of biomolecules, knowledge of oligonucleotide synthesis, purification and analysis is preferred
Hands-on experience with HPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, fluorescence measurements and other analytical methods and instruments, knowledge of UPLC-MS instrumentation is helpful
Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills
Physical requirements/abilities:
Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to stand for several hours. Work may involve repetitive arm/wrist motions.
