Here at Blue Shield of California, we are striving to make a positive change across our industry and the communities we live in - join us!Your Role The IT Network Engineering team is an integral part of BSC IT Core Infrastructure and Hybrid Cloud Services department which is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of BSC network infrastructure while maintaining system integrity and compliance.The Network Engineer, Senior will report to the Sr. Manager, IT Network Engineering and Data Center Services . In this role you will help the team to manage BSC network infrastructure comprising several campus networks (Wired & Wireless), Co-located Data Centers, Hybrid multi-cloud environments, Corporate WAN (MPLS & SD-WAN), Partner/Supplier/Vendor networks (IPSec & MPLS), Remote Access for employees, contractors, off-shore workforce. As a seasoned network engineer, you must be comfortable with all facets of the network infrastructure described above have knowledge and hands-on experience in all the technical protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF & 802.11) and hardware/software components (routers, switches, WLAN controllers & access points, firewalls, VPN gateways, SD-WAN gateways, Load Balancers, NAC/ISE servers and Monitoring servers like Solarwinds & Netbrain) that make up the enterprise networks. You also must have in-depth knowledge of networks with a focus on high-level design and planning. Our ideal candidate knows how to collaborate on large-scale projects but can also complete assigned tasks on their own.Your WorkIn this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain network infrastructure in campus, data center and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Determine network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to meet those requirements
  • Conduct network modeling and analysis to construct a reliable, high-performance integrated network
  • Manage and troubleshoot Network Access Control using Cisco ISE
  • Manage and troubleshoot Wired, Wireless and VPN connectivity to users and systems
  • Manage and troubleshoot Data Center Networks
  • Spearhead and manage network automation projects and network focused tool development using Ansible, Python & Terraform and etc
  • Program routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wlan controllers and other network hardware
  • Manage DDI Infrastructure including Infoblox for DNS, DHCP, IPAM and NTP. Also manage registration and maintenance of BSC owned domain names, IP Address blocks and AS Numbers
  • Collaborate with network architects to optimize system performance
Your Knowledge and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires at least 5 years of prior relevant experience
  • Industry certifications preferred (but not required), such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Palo Alto, VMWare certifications
  • Familiarity with various network types including LANs, WANs, WLANs, SANs, and VoIP networks
  • Strong python, terraform & Ansible experience and skills
  • Verifiable experience in designing and troubleshooting large-scale Data Center Networks
  • Experience in SDN technologies, primarily Cisco ACI & VMWare NSX
