TitleHazardous Materials SpecPosition Number33592CompanyWA River Protection SolutionsCity/StateRichland, WALocationMO291/200WPosted08/12/2020Closes08/19/2020Regular/TemporaryRegularFull/Part-TimeFull-TimeJob Responsibilities/DutiesThe Hazardous Material Specialist scopes technical tasks and develops creative solutions to assigned problems of basic to high complexity.Incorporates conventional engineering or scientific practices to a broad range of highly complex technical requirements to meet WRPS' Waste Program needs.Participates in waste planning activities, assist waste generators in the compliant management of waste, including mixed, low level, hazardous, recyclable and non-regulated.Interfaces with union, management, engineers and professionals, as well as regulators (EPA, DOE, Washington State).Interpret analytical and radiological data.Perform Solid Waste Inventory Tracking System data entry, ensuring that waste inventories and regulatory clocks are maintained.Provide weekly status reports to management.Develops, prepares and reviews waste stream technical documentation to support waste characterization, designations, radiological calculations, and waste profiles.Respond to and track Problem Evaluation Reports related to waste management.Perform field walk downs and assessments to ensure waste is properly managed in accordance with regulations.Act as Technical Authority for review and approval of waste procedures and plans.Interpret waste management, treatment and transportation regulations to assure that management of wastes are performed in accordance with all federal, state and local regulations.Provide input to Annual Dangerous Waste Reports, and waste forecasting reports.Required QualificationsBA/BS degree in a scientific discipline or a related field with a minimum of 9 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and years of related experience.Desired QualificationsExperience with application of Washington State, DOE and DOT regulations and requirements.Current and past hazardous Waste worker, Waste Designation and Advanced Hazardous Waste ShipperExperience with RadCalc, SWITS, and IDMS.Experience developing waste profiles for offsite and onsite waste treatment and disposal.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).Relocation Funding ProvidedNoU.S. Citizenship RequiredYesClearance RequiredNoJob ClassificationExemptShift Work RequiredNoThis contractor shall abide by the requirements of 41 CFR ยงยง 60-1.4(a), 60-300.5(a) and 60-741.5(a).
