Description: Sikorsky- Engineering the future of vertical lift.This position is for a Senior Design Engineer in the Sikorsky Aircraft Rotors or Transmissions Design Group. We design, develop and support elegant and safe design solutions that exceed customer expectations for mission success.We are seeking a talented and motivated Design Engineer to join the Rotor or Transmission Development team. The ideal candidate will work on all aspects of rotor or transmission system design, from conceptual trade studies thru fabrication and test. They will work under general direction and develop solutions independently.Responsibilities for this position include: Transition the conceptual design into a producible design Prepare and release designs with 3D CATIA models, assemblies and installations Engineering support of development, test, and validation of new designs Interact with Structural Analysts, Material and Process Engineers, Suppliers, and Test Engineers Engineering support of development, test, and validation of new designs Coordination with suppliers, internal and external integrated product teams Technical engineering support for manufacturing, installation and testing at Sikorsky and external supplier facilitiesThe job may include travel for on-site support and close physical access to prototype and development aircraft for build, ground test, and flight test operations stateside.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a talented team responsible for the next generation of vertical lift aircraft.This position is based in our Stratford Connecticut facility, with close ties to other rotor and transmission designers across multiple geographic locations.Basic Qualifications:Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.Desired Skills:Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.Excellent organizational skills, and ability to work well with other individuals and organizations.
