LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

ABOUT NORTHLAKE NEPHROLOGY (NNI)

We are a multi-specialty clinic that has been servicing patients on the Northshore for over 25 years. We offer outpatient services in Covington, Slidell, Franklinton and Bogalusa. We specialize in Nephrology, Pulmonology, Infectious Disease and Primary Care and coordinate with our hospitalist group to follow up with patients as they leave the hospital.

POSITION SUMMARY: The successful candidate must be able to handle a fast-paced environment that is forever changing its landscape.

CLINICAL DUTIES: (may include but not limited to):

Escort patients to exam room and accurately records height, weight and vitals

Take medical history and chief complaint

Update medication list

Obtain prior authorizations for procedures/medications

Schedule procedures

Coordinate care with Primary Care Physician/Referring Physician

Administer injections

Getting materials ready for clinic

Sending lab orders

Obtaining lab results

Authorize prescription refills as directed

Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls

Enter medical history into EHR

Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians

Daily patient calls are to be returned before the end of the day

Assist in cleaning the patient care area after patient visit is completed

Follow HIPAA privacy standards. All conversations regarding patients or patient’s information are to be conducted confidentially.

Requires travel to Bogalusa and Franklinton clinics 1 – 2x/month.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: (may include but not limited to):

Answering telephones

Greeting patients

Updating and scanning to patient medical records

Updating patient demographics

Entering insurance information

Faxing and scanning

Insurance verifications and prior authorizations

Filling out insurance forms

Scheduling appointments

Checking in/out patients

Collecting co-pays and reconciling daily batch

Handle correspondence

Stocking and replenishing supplies

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience with EHR software

Microsoft Office experience required

Basic Life Support (AHA/CPR)

Patient-focused

Excellent Communication Skills

Ability to adapt to change

Licensed Practical Nurse (New Graduates encouraged to apply)

Monday-Thursday; 8:00am-5:00pm
