Salary Range: $48,310 - $66,427

The City of Laramie is accepting applications for an Accounting Analyst in the Administrative Services Department. The Accounting Analyst will plan and prioritize work in a variety of business functions, including accounting, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, procurement, and support services under the direction of the Accounting Operations Supervisor.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a variety of services including reviewing, reconciling, processing, and analyzing a wide range and high volume of transactions with a high degree of accuracy.Perform compliance monitoring, related to assigned functions. Prepare internal and external reports in accordance with applicable requirements and standards.
  • Make decisions that demonstrate an understanding of payroll law, project management, grant compliance, applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and budgetary policy within guidelines.
  • Analyze business processes to recommend and implement business process improvement projects.
  • Assist with system software and interface implementation, maintenance, and management; establish and maintain user setup and security; monitor, evaluate, design, test, and maintain technical setup in business operations software and interfaces.
  • Deliver timely and efficient organizational support, resolve complaints, and recommend solutions for existing and potential issues; provide information on departmental and City policies and procedures as required.
  • Develop appropriate training to educate City staff members about accounting, grants, business, payroll, and related policies.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully to achieve positive outcomes; foster organizational improvement and employee growth and learning.

QUALIFICATIONS:(A combination of the following experience and training, or the equivalent of, would be qualifying):

  • One year of responsible experience, or two years of experience in payroll processing or business operations (receivables, disbursements, payables, procurement, etc.).Experience working in a governmental entity is preferred.
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
