The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Candidate must lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. Candidates who are creative team players with a talent for challenging the status quo, coming up with unique ideas, negotiating and influencing will be preferred for this position. The Controller position is a full-time opportunity in the La Mesa, California region.How you will make an impact

Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective

Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations

Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

Requirements

Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

Deep understanding of Financial Forecast

Well-founded grasp of financial reporting

Proven knowledge of Monthly Actual

General familiarity with Direct Supervision

Month-end Close Activities experience

Annual Budget experience desired

Financial statement preparation experience highly desired

Prepare Annual Budgets experience required

Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA preferred

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Be detailed, flexible, and organized

Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
