Job Description

We are seeking an independent and highly motivated researcher for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neurology Research at Biogen to work on microRNA (miRNA) biology and bioinformatics. The successful applicant will have deep knowledge of and strong technical skills in miRNA biogenesis pathway and RNAi interference (RNAi) mechanisms. The postdoctoral fellow will initiate research projects to investigate molecular basis for cell type-specific expression of miRNAs as well as to improve RNAi performance for intervention of neurological disorders.

This is a unique and rare opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow to join a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary group with diverse areas and commitment to tackle challenging problems in biology and medicine and will work on independent research projects, which will leverage collaborations within the group and across R&D. There is also opportunity to learn bioinformatics techniques to analyze miRNA-related NGS datasets

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. in the area of neuroscience, cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology or similar relevant field.
  • Must have direct experience in applying basic laboratory techniques related to the above disciplines.
  • Must have strong expertise in small, non-coding RNAs in mammals, and a robust understanding in miRNA-mRNA regulatory network.
  • Experience with bioinformatics and computational biology is a plus.
  • Experience with single cell genomic profiling is a plus.
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry or in situ hybridization is a plus.
  • The qualified candidates must have a record of innovative scientific accomplishments as evidenced by a first author paper published or accepted in a well-recognized peer-reviewed journal.
