Love for Lane County (LFLC) is a non-profit, 501(c)3 faith-based human services organization. LFLC is committed to providing a holistic response through active faith, a hands-on service that offers material, emotional, relational and spiritual assistance appropriate for each person’s needs and requests. Our primary focus is to offer short-term practical, hands-on assistance for those who are in desperate need in our community and have nowhere else to turn.

Job Description:

Executive Director

Scope of Position

The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

General Areas of Responsibility

1. Oversee the day to day general operations of Love for Lane County

a. Exhibit spiritual maturity, integrity, and a commitment to personal transformation

b. Effectively manage human resources (volunteers and staff), ensuring sound administrative practices, human

resource management, personnel policies and procedures

c. Oversee financial operations and risk management practices

o Prudently manage all resources within budget guidelines according to current Oregon laws and regulations

o Participate with the Board of Directors in developing and implementing an annual operating plan and

strategic fundraising plan

o Prepare and present an annual budget to the Board of Directors for approval

o Create and manage an annual grant calendar, building relationships with local and regional funders

o Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations as well as

scale for annual growth

o Foster a diversified portfolio of fundraising streams including individual and corporate gifts,

private and public grants, event revenues, and others

d. Oversee development and implementation of communication, marketing and promotional strategies

2. Build relationships to support the ministry and mobilize local churches to serve

a. Be the primary face of LFLC and the champion of the LFLC mission to churches, agencies, donors and the

community as a whole.

b. Build strong relationships in and with the Board of Directors

o Support the operation and administration of the board by advising and informing board members of

ministry accomplishments, activities and issues.

c. Build strong relationships with our partner churches

o Develop a oneness of mind and heart to work together to meet the needs of marginalized and underserved

people in Central Lane County.

o Meet with partner church pastors and leaders on a regular basis to continually strengthen their

understanding and ownership of their vital role in the ministry of LFLC and to learn about needs within their

congregations.

o Grow the number of partner churches to ensure LFLC is meeting the expectations in the areas of need.

d. Build strong relationships with local agencies

o Participate in community partnerships to ensure community clearly understands the mission of LFLC and

to foster cooperation between local agencies and our partner churches.

o Bring the love of Jesus to these agencies, be a member of good standing to those outside the Christian faith.

3. Oversee Clearinghouse, Gap Ministries, and other ministries of LFLC to transform lives and communities, In the Name of Christ

a. Oversee the development, delivery, and quality of all LFLC programs, services, and initiatives

o Ensure the ministries are serving with excellence in Christ

o Lead staff and church leaders in developing new ministries and programs

b. Oversee the recruiting and mobilization of volunteers from partner churches to respond to the needs of people

assessed by LFLC, including board members, Clearinghouse volunteers, etc.

Qualifications:

1. Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and in agreement with the Apostles’ Creed, and the LFLC Statement of Scripture

2. Comfortable praying with people and leading a team in prayer.

3. Strong commitment to the Church and its mandate to serve people in need

4. Prior non-profit experience is highly desirable

5. Active member/attendee of local church

6. Strong leadership skills

a. Minimum three years of leadership experience

b. Experience leading both paid staff and volunteers

c. Solid interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability for self-improvement

d. Ability to lead in a growing and changing environment

e. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively under pressure

7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking

8. Experience fund-raising and willingness to ask for donations

9. Proficient office skills:

a. Strong organizational abilities

b. Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher)

c. Interest & ability to master other software that may be implemented to support the ministry

10. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in management, social work, organizational leadership, ministry, community development, or related field

11. Ability to maintain healthy professional boundaries

Hours

Full time (40 hours per week), with time shared between regular LFLC office hours and other Saturday or weekday evening times, as driven by ministry needs.
