ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Lead a team of apprentices to install various HVAC systems including heat pumps, gas furnaces, air conditioners, package units, rooftop package units, and mini split units following manufacture specifications and company standards with little to no supervision.

-Provides their own set of hand tools and some fabrication hand tools.

-Knowledge and competency in using the company-provided power tools, measurement, and metering devices.

-Installation of auxiliary HVAC equipment such as coils, UV lights, air cleaners, and humidifiers with little to no supervision.

-Ability to install outdoor coils, condensing units, TXVs, compressors, etc. as well as repair refrigerant line sets, and complete leak checks.

-Has the ability to read and follow mechanical blueprints and engineering specifications.

-Ability to install and wire both low and line voltage to HVAC equipment and control devices.

-Perform installation of copper refrigerant lines to AC units, including brazing and soldering.

-Perform installation of flexible and sheet metal duct systems in residential and light-commercial buildings.

-The role of the Lead Installer also involves designing, fabricating, and installing a wide range of ducts and duct fittings.

-Run and install gas lines and ventilation flues to heating equipment, even when following engineered specifications on mechanical drawings.

-Determine the right material needed for installation by visiting proposed work site.

-Receive all materials and equipment required for each job, confirm and load them into company vehicle, and provide the office with equipment information such as Model/Serial numbers before leaving for the job site.

-Provide necessary support to other team members to be able to complete tasks on time as instructed by the team leaders.

-Create and maintain cordial and collaborative working relationships with both team leaders and teammates.

-Ensure all invoices are completed accurately, and receive payments using the company provided iPhone and invoicing app.

-Carry out readings on machines with the full understanding of the implication of such readings.

-Ensure assigned company vehicle is kept clean.

-Perform any other duty that may be directed by a team leader or the president of the company.

-Be able to perform startup on all installed systems.

-Flexibility to work on-call shifts on a rotation basis as well as occasional overtime.

-Some HVAC troubleshooting ability is necessary for startups as well as during on-call shifts.

The HVAC Lead Installer MUST:

-Have 2-3+ years of residential and light-commercial HVAC installation experience.

-EPA Certification a plus.

-Possess effective verbal and written communication skills

-Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.

-Have an honest and dependable personality

-Strong mechanical aptitude

-Self-motivated individual with strong ability to follow instructions and work alone, as well as work effectively within a team.

-Be willing and able to provide knowledge, training, and guidance to HVAC apprentices so they can develop the proper skills to be able to perform HVAC installation jobs effectively.

-Ability to display professional company image.

-Possession of a valid drivers license and relatively clean driving record.

-Pass a comprehensive background check for criminality.

-Strong ability to write and read in English.

-Strong ability to operate under severe temperature conditions of 120 or more for long periods of time.

-Be physically capable of working easily and skillfully with hands, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 100 pounds, climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds, or scissor lifts.

-Be physically capable of standing, crouching, kneeling, or crawling for an extended period of time in sometimes tight spaces.

-Ability to work some weekends, and occasional overtime.

-EPA or Nate certification is a plus, but not required.
