Position Summary:Will manage the logistics engineering staff and solution development processes to increase growth and improve operational execution. At times works directly with the customer to establish strategy, scope, documents, engineering resource requirements, and timelines. Ensures that engineered solutions meet customer requirements and achieve the committed value proposition for the customer. Develop processes that help their associates build solution development capability. Provides the strategic view and decisions rather than involved in specific projects. Is the subject matter expert with a certain product line, industry or customer but has had experiences in multiple product lines. Prepares and delivers clear performance expectations, performance reviews and development plans for direct reports.Major Responsibilities:-Direct interface with key business leaders and decision makers-Work with Sales, Operations and the Customer Experience Team in signing new business and retaining existing business-Review Requests for Proposals (RFP) and ensure all facets of our response are accurate and timely-Has a real world understanding of the operating environment as it relates to the solution the customer desires-Understands the customer's requirements even when they are unable to articulate those needs-Ensure each associate understands their individual role and responsibilities when developing new solutions-Ensure associates understand compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures.-Interact with customer to ensure we understand existing and emerging customer needs-Utilize team to identify improvements in areas such as route optimization, carrier selection, backhauls, trailer loading, warehouse improvements and inventory accuracy-Allocate associates to projects-Interview, hire and develop engineering associates-Ensure that all team members understand how their work relates to the customer's business objectives-Build engagement by expressing pride in the group where the goals are met and recognize and reward associates Encourage associates to be up-to-date on current trends and technologies-Listen to associate's interests and align those with the needs of the projects-Manage the team with integrity to meet or exceed the project plan and customer expectations-Work with Pricing and Finance to ensure project costs and schedules are properly estimated and controlled-Understand the financial requirements or obligations for the with which their associates are involved-Understand return on investment as it relates to each project or customer requirement-Execute a process to track and record value delivered to the customer-Identify and seize profitable business opportunities-Demonstrates a clear understanding of effectively managing both internal and external customer requirements and measurement criteria-Identifies and makes process improvements to better serve the customer-Establishes positive and collaborative relationships with all customers-Monitors and understands leading practices and industry trends and make recommendations to business partners as appropriate-Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisorQualification:-7-10 years of relevant logistics experience required-Has a working knowledge of the technologies used, IT principles as they relate to the solution and design and is able to speak to them and know how they work required-Bachelors degree required-Masters degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Operations preferred-In-depth knowledge of Penske Logistics' business practices and functional expertise preferred-Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required-Increased skills are required in team development, implementation, evaluation, managing timelines, work plans, and presentations.-Associate is required to excel in decision-making, problem solving, analytical skills.-Demonstrated business acumen preferred.-The ability to partner with your supervisor, be team player, know where leverage lies, and commit to the business is required-Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job-Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
