Seeking First Grade In-Home Teaching Assistant (Central Austin)

Seeking Spanish-speaking teaching assistant to facilitate and lead an academic schedule for a group of 3 or 4 1st graders in parents’ homes. Maintain an immersive Spanish language experience for the children. Work with parents to find a balance between each child’s Zoom calls and in-person learning. We are searching for a facilitator who is upbeat, caring, likes being outside, and has been and will remain in compliance with social distancing and health guidelines. Curriculum development not required, since children will have curricula provided by their school teachers.

Location: Central Austin, 78705 and 78702

Start Date: August 31, 2020

Days & Hours: 32-40 hours/week; schedule up for discussion, likely 8/9am to 3/4pm

Pay Rate: $24+/hour based on experience level and pod size

Paid Holidays: Sept 7 (Labor Day), Nov 25-27 (Dia de las Gracias)

Term Length: Until December 18, 2020, with potential for renewal

Minimum Job Requirements:

- Clean background check

- Level 1-2 Covid risk tolerance (please see risk tolerance chart)

- Spanish language native speaker or bilingual

- Can provide multiple professional references

- Organized and has the ability to multitask

- Exceptional communication skills

- Enjoys working with children

- Non-smoker

- Comfortable around dogs (one house has a gentle, sweet labrador)

Desirable, but not Required:

- 2-3 years of experience with the 4-7 yo age group as an education facilitator/teacher or similar

- Basic understanding of social emotional learning for early childhood / primary school children

- Experience creating a lesson plan and schedule for multiple students is a huge plus

- First aid / CPR certification

- Special skills in one area such as music, art, theatre, education, social activism, wildlife, etc.

We are also open to helping subsidize a child in the pod that may not be able to afford to join otherwise.
