In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 30 cities throughout the country.ResponsibilitiesThe Congressional Relations Officer position is located in the immediate Office of the Inspector General (OIG). The incumbentperforms a variety of wide-ranging, complex projects and assignments for the Inspector General (IG) and Deputy IG.As a Congressional Relations Officer, you will:

Establish and maintain continuing liaison with members of congress and their staff- Coordinaterequests from congress to conduct reviews of VA operations, programs, audits, inspections, investigations, and reviews - Provide administrative direction regardingwork plans to be accomplished by subordinates to meet short and long term priorities- Maintain continuing awareness of OIG policies, plans, programs and accomplishments by reviewing OIG reports, attending senior staff meetings and briefings, and consulting regularly with the senior OIG staff- Research information from a variety of sources, analyze and evaluate information to draw sound conclusions, and recommend practical and reliable courses of action

Performing congressional relations assignments for senior leadership of an organization; OR - Establishing and maintaining continuous contact with members of congress and their staff; OR - Providing technical advice and assistance concerning controversial actions, decisions, and reports.
