We leverage existing knowledge along with new technologies and innovative business models to support local reform that is sustained through market forces.The Kaizen Company is seeking to hire up to two short-term Consultant positions for the USAID-funded New Partnerships Initiative (NPI) Incubator (Partnerships Incubator).About the Partnerships IncubatorThe USAID/New Partnerships Initiative (NPI) Incubator is designed to target the combined skills, innovation, networks, relationships, and resources of an expanded and diversified partner base. Currently, 75 implementing partners deploy approximately 80% of USAID?s obligations. Expanding USAID?s partner base will bring increased innovation, cost-efficiency, and development impact?which translates to greater effectiveness for USAID programming and faster and more sustainable progress for partner countries on their journey to self-reliance. USAID seeks to partner with new and underutilized local and locally established organizations, including faith-based, community, and civil society groups but recognizes that there may be barriers to successful collaboration. With the support of the Partnerships Incubator, USAID will inform and equip potential partners to more effectively design and implement successful development programs.Position Summary The Consultant(s) will work closely with the Incubator Internal Services Director and other team members to deliver a partner landscape analysis (market research). The Consultant(s) will be responsible for researching, compiling, analyzing, and reporting on 1) a range of local civil society and private sector organizations in Djibouti, with a particular emphasis on education, health, and gender equality and women?s empowerment, and 2) the history of and opportunity for the client and local organizations to engage with the Government of Djibouti, specifically the Ministries of Education & Professional Training; Health; and Promotion of Women & Family Welfare & Social Affairs, and the modalities for such engagement. The Consultant(s) will ensure that final work products are error-free, consistent, and accurate. The level of effort for the position is up to 325 hours.Main roles and responsibilities include:

Define the approach and establish a work plan for conducting a partner landscape analysis (market research) project.

Perform the landscape analysis of local organizations based on client requirements.

Sectors will include education; health; and gender equality and women's empowerment.

Organizations will include civil society organizations and private sector companies.

Ministries will include Education & Professional Training; Health; and Promotion of Women & Family Welfare & Social Affairs.

Ensure the accuracy of the content and verify the accuracy of all referenced information.

Meet a tight deadline based on client needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, humanities, social sciences, international development, or a related field.

Must be fluent in written and spoken English and French.

Must have professional familiarity with the Horn of Africa region, preferably Djibouti.

The ideal candidate will have served clients or completed projects in Djibouti or is local to Djibouti or the region.

5-7 years of experience in consulting within the international development sector.

Detail-oriented, analytically-minded, and multi-tasker.

USAID experience a bonus, but not required.
