Staff Accountant

This Staff Accountant position is for candidates who can prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. To thrive in this role, you will need to perform internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on

Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

Participate in various department-wide initiatives

Maintain fixed asset ledgers, depreciation, and reconciliation

Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries

In-depth knowledge of reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

Manage intercompany reconciliation, billings, and transactions

Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision

Requirements

Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills

Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

Financial auditing experience

Well-founded grasp of general ledger

Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Excel

Month end closings experience highly desired

Expertise in Bank Account Reconciliation

Solid understanding of account reconciliation

Proven knowledge of journal entries

Proficient in ERP systems

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

1+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
