The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this position either with or without reasonable accommodations.Job SummaryThe Safety and Occupational Health Specialist supports management in the implementation of safety and occupational health programs to ensure compliance with applicable standards and requirements, incorporating the Safety Management System (SMS) designed to manage safety elements in the workplace. The incumbent partners in the development and implementation of science and data-driven programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses.Essential Functions

Supports the Safety Measurement System by assisting in the implementation of data-driven programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses.

Performs field work, including Job Hazard Analyses and other workplace surveys to support industrial health initiatives, enforce occupationalhealth regulations and identify potential hazards.

Maintains accurate program data to support the Authority’s Agency Safety Plan (ASP). Queries and analyzes occupational data to produce reports on safety risks in the Authority.

Shares in the development of novel strategies to resolve unsafe acts and conditions in the work place through research, data collection, analysis and reporting.

Collaborates in the development of curriculum for industrial hygiene training and works with the appropriate parties to implement training and ensure accurate recordkeeping of training records.
