May be required to lead or direct others and articulate The Salvation Army’s role in disasters.Essential Functions

Responsible for the technical selection of vehicles and establishment of fleet management, ensuring all coordination, movements and planning of vehicles operated by Salvation Army are properly organized and conducted in accordance to Salvation Army guidelines, policies and procedures.

Response for monitoring of vehicle fuel consumption through implementation of logbooks.

Coordination of vehicle usage in support of the deployed unit/s, ensuring security protocols / SOP are maintained for staff safety.

Responsible for the establishment of dynamic and flexible customer-oriented warehouse/program supplies issuance process to meet program teams daily re-supply needs

Responsible to ensure procurement activities are conducted as often as required while aiming to achieve value for money purchase through ethical, transparent and fair competition in line with organization and donors’ standards.

Responsible to support the division by establish dynamic and flexible procurement planning processes and pro-actively collect procurement needs from program teams to minimize time between needs identification and procurement delivery.

Responsible for the organization of a reliable and cost-effective local procurement system and delivery of procurement services in support to the division’s operation.

During disaster periods, could be responsible to supervise on a temporary basis with logistics and the warehouse.

Maintains safe and healthy work environment by enforcing organization standards.

Responsible for cataloging incoming merchandise, donations, etc. for the division.

Ensure proper disbursement of items working closely with Labor Community Services, Marine Toys for Tots and other agencies as required.

Record all incoming and outgoing items and ensure individuals sign for any items taken from warehouse.

Perform a daily inspection of the parking lot and ensure al litter is cleaned up, etc.

Check fences and doors, etc. on a daily basis to ascertain status of any break in fencing, etc.

Ensure that rodent/pest control inspection is conducted and advise supervisor if further measures are necessary for eradication and control

Coordinate the cleaning and upkeep of the Disaster Services Warehouse (both 1-C and 1-D).

Coordinate with supervisor the maintenance of all disaster services vehicles including canteens, shower trailers and mobile generators.

Must be on call for assignments as required to open the warehouse on weekends, etc. on an emergency basis to ship items or to coordinate the food service and logistics to affected disaster sites.

This position may call for overnight travel to deliver supplies to northern section of division

Position will require that employee be forklift certified which can be accomplished prior to employment or within ten days of hire.

Position will require the distribution unloading of Hallmark donations as required.

Due to the nature of work completed by Disaster Services Department, administration will require that this position perform task not specified above, including any misc. duties assigned.

RequirementsWorking ConditionsAbility to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift up to 10lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone.Minimum Qualifications

Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field, or equivalent combination of Certification in Humanitarian Logistics or similar training and extensive relevant experience in humanitarian logistics preferred.

Tact and diplomacy to promote goodwill both internally and externally.

Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and good judgment

Spanish speaking is preferred.

Must be computer literate.

Must Possess a California Class C license. Must take and pass Salvation Army driver training on line program.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Driving Test and clean MVR check (if applicable)

If working in vicinity of children a criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.

Ability to navigate within the Lotus Notes e-mail program.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and to follow through with assignments as required.

General aptitude for mechanical issues relating to vehicles, etc.

Ability to adapt to very rapid changes in environment, structures & assignments.
