The Education Coordinator is responsible for coordinating education efforts concerning employees, volunteers, and contract workers at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. This includes overseeing the hospital’s online learning system and in-person course enrollment, coordination of the conference/education approval process, tracking of certification, education and competency requirements, and documentation of these education efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interacts with department managers and staff on a wide range of education and scheduling requests, and responds to inquiries in an expedient, customer service-oriented manner.
  • Oversees the organization’s online learning system by managing users and organization-specific content, uploading and assigning courses to the appropriate audience, and assisting with the communication and accurate tracking of education completion.

  • Works proactively to ensure timely completion and documentation of staff certification courses and competency assessments.

  • Tracks and audits required employee licenses and certifications, i.e., nursing licenses, CPR certifications, etc.
  • Tracks and audits receipt of employee performance evaluations, ensuring timely and thorough completion.
  • Provides reports and recommendations to help maintain compliance with organizational policy and applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Organizes course enrollment and schedules course facilitators for in-person courses and checkouts.
  • Schedules participants and makes logistical arrangements for employee orientation and education in-person classes.
  • Facilitates the conference and continuing education approval and tracking process for the organization.
  • Assists the HR and Education team in measuring the effectiveness of employee programs and processes.

  • Assists with the research and scheduling of speakers/programs for training and development.

  • Assists with the development and facilitation of non-clinical education, as requested.
  • Oversees the checkout and return process for education books and materials.
  • Performs general administrative duties and assists HR and Education team with department responsibilities as needed.

Responsibilities For All Education Staff

  • Maintains procedures and controls to promote communication, adequate information flow, and effective working relationships.

  • Demonstrates ability to research, compile data, draw conclusions and make recommendations for process improvement.
  • Maintains thorough documentation and organization strategies.

  • Communicates accurately, clearly and concisely to senior leadership, managers, coworkers and staff.

  • Maintains a good working relationship and provides support within the department and with staff in other departments.

  • Attends position-specific meetings, prepares reports and provides recommendations in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Is a team player; assists the HR and Education team and works on special projects as needed.

  • Orders supplies for the department using the appropriate requisition method (either system or paper requisitions).

  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department / organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience / License and Certifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent, required.
  • Associate Degree in Business or related field, preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years customer service, recordkeeping, or relevant office experience, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in hospital/healthcare setting, preferred.

  • Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple assignments, balance priorities, makes decisions appropriately and timely.

  • Basic computer knowledge, including Word, Excel, data entry, Outlook e-mail and use of computerized calendar system.
