Which is why your performance and innovation will find a reception here like nowhere else as you help people live healthier lives while doing your life's best work.(sm)The employee in this position will perform duties for rebate accounting and financial reporting within the Accounting department of OptumRx, the pharmacy benefit management division of UnitedHealth Group. (Rebates from the pharmaceutical industry comprise a substantial portion of the segment's multi-billion dollar annual revenue.)Primary Responsibilities:

Create and analyze complex monthly bad debt allowance and other accruals

Involvement in the monthly/quarterly 'close' process

Analyze and help prepare various financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position

Prepare and record balance sheet cash receipt transactions and reconciliations

Collaborate with multiple resources throughout UHG to ensure proper recording of intercompany activity

Perform account reconciliations and analyses, prepare journal entries and review accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles

Maintain general and sub ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports

Prepare documentation and support external and internal audits and ad hoc reporting for stakeholders

Communicate with multiple departments to resolve issues that impact accuracy or create delays of cash application and write off bookings

Prepare particular report and analysis in order to respond to disbursement related questions from internal and external clients

Significant exposure to company leaders through presentation of financial results and ad hoc requests

Develop and lead innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness

Bachelors or higher degree with concentration in Accounting, Finance or related field

4+ years of Accounting, Finance or related experience

Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel

Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them

Preferred Qualifications:

Healthcare and/or PBM experience

CPA

Experience with Hyperion Essbase, PeopleSoft Financials, and SQL or various database management systems

Accounting experience handling regulated entities
