Education: Registered Nurse graduating from an accredited school of
nursing. Training and Experience: Two years of RN experience preferably
in a ED. Current Arkansas RN license. Current certification in BLS,
ACLS, and PALS. TNCC and CEN desirable. ARORA certified. Job Knowledge:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret department policies, procedures
and standards, technical reports, professional journals and regulatory
agency regulations. Ability to write concise, descriptive and accurate
details in a legible manner. Ability to effectively communicate concise
information to the health care team and the public. The ability to
calculate figures and amounts such as proportions data, establish facts,
define problems and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret an
extensive variety of technical data. The ED Charge Nurse will meet the
ED Staff RN job description requirements. The Charge Nurse refers to a
Registered Nurse who is assigned specific management responsibilities by
the nurse manager. S/he is directly responsible to the nurse manager and
provides continuity of leadership. S/he is responsible for the
evaluation and prioritization of activities to meet the changing unit
demands on a shift-to-shift basis. Ideally, this position will consist
of two people working twelve-hour shifts Monday through Friday and every
other weekend opposite of each other.
