job summary:Our client is looking for a Data Scientist Supervisor for a permanent position in the Sacramento, CA. area.Under general direction of the Director, IT Health Informatics, the Data Scientist Supervisor will oversee a team of data scientists and statisticians engaged in in designing and implementing practical solutions to data science challenges. The Supervisor will be responsible for applying statistical and machine learning methods and other data science techniques to real-world problems. The Supervisor will aid data-enabled, multi-disciplinary research, provide consultative advice, and continually learn, share, and problem solve while working with researchers, clinicians, and operational staff members from across the university. In addition to health system clinical, operational, and research project leadership, the Supervisor will work collaboratively with staff from Information Technology's Data Provisioning Core, Health Computing Core, and IT Applications teams. The Health Data Scientist Supervisor will be responsible for supervising, training, and mentoring data scientists working on numerous, diverse cutting-edge collaborative projects. The Supervisor will develop generalizable and reusable data science infrastructure, methods, software and tools. The Supervisor will also serve as a liaison between clinical and business project champions and the Health Analytics Core (HAC) team including: Helping define project requirements and deliverables Working with health system leadership on implementation and post-implementation analysis Providing scientific advice and services/support for other projects Coordinating Health Analytics Core staff participation in multi-disciplinary projects.

Education Experience:Bachelor's degree in a data-analytic or equivalent discipline (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Science or a data-driven disciplinary field)

or 2 years experience in healthcare data science

and comparable field, in a leadership role, with hands-on data science problem solving with realworld, complex data sets.

Preferred Education:Masters or Ph.D. in a data-analytic discipline, or in a disciplinary field with significant data science background.

Required Skills:
  • strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage the cross-functional interactions within project teams and between clinical, operational, and research stakeholders outside of formal team structure.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with senior management on developing strategies, objectives, and goals.
  • Experience in managing customer expectations and creating an outstanding customer experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear, concise, and specific manner to stakeholders and groups with potentially varying levels of technological sophistication.
  • Experience developing training and educational materials on data science topics, methods and/or technologies.
  • Problem-solving and data manipulation skills.
  • Fluency in the Python programming language and competency using Python's standard machine learning libraries, and a willingness to learn (if necessary) other programming languages such as R and SQL.
  • Initiative to advance skills and knowledge as needed to fulfill assigned tasks and projects, including learning new methods and technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of project management and process improvement principles, concepts, and methodologies

Preferred Skills:
  • Fluency in additional programming languages including R, C, SQL.
  • Familiarity with both relational and non-relational database management systems.
  • Competency with advanced machine learning methodologies including deep learning and time series modeling methods.
  • Experience with software development, version control, unit testing, portability.
  • Lean Six-Sigma certification (green belt or above) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certified.
  • Knowledge of data-driven research, scholarly communication, and the technical and social aspects of the research data lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of healthcare workflows, processes, and clinical terminology
