Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in the South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

The Mechanical Engineer will provide technical expertise in the design and coordination of complex and sophisticated projects involving the construction, renovation and repair of facilities for the 183 schools under the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) and BIE facilities around the country. This position will monitor and track progress of designated projects and provide routine reports of accomplishments to appropriate officials and offices.

This is a two-year project. The salary range for this position is $100k-$120k/year (range varies depending on experience and qualifications).

Key responsibilities:

Provide expert professional technical assistance and support to the organization in the mechanical engineering field

Perform professional engineering and project management work to protect life, safety, health and property

Review designs, plans and specifications for water, sewage, HVAC, fire suppression, control and alarm systems and other systems of major size and complexity for use in facilities

Provide professional consultations on a wide range of difficult unforeseen problems on design interfaces, regulatory limitations and to exchange information and expedite work

Review preliminary and final engineering plans, specifications and cost estimates to ensure design excellence and compliance with specifications

Use computer software and management programs and project tracking programs to solve engineering problems and facilitate work

Manage construction projects for construction, renovations and improvements to real property facilities

Assist in analyzing the critical path schedule for design and construction projects

Prepare, review and approve project documents for design, construction, renovation or repair

Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as needed

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Must be a licensed Professional Engineer

Knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts, principles and practices

Extensive experience handling mechanical engineering renovation projects

Comprehensive knowledge in site planning, building design and construction means, methods and codes

Extensive knowledge of scheduling, material and labor cost estimating sufficient to evaluate compliance environmental health, safety and protection requirements

Able to sue computer software programs such as MS Office and CADD

With a valid driver’s license
