Material Takeoff Estimator

For 50+ years Gaspar Inc has been a premier fabricator for Pressure Vessels and Heat Exchangers in exotic alloys (Stainless Steel, Nickel Alloys, Hastelloy, Titanium, and more). We are looking to expand our team with a full time Material Estimator. You’ll be joining a great mix of personalities, with opportunities to expand into different rolls depending on your career goals and skills.

Job Functions

Communicate effectively with team members, suppliers and customers.

Read and comprehend customer specifications & drawings.

Develop quality bills of materials and accurate material pricing from drawings.

Determine type and size of material required for projects.

Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by accurately identifying and specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors, etc.

Bring concerns and issues to Purchasing, Engineering, Fabrication, and Management for resolution and risk assessment.

Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects.

Record notes and details of clarifications and assumptions made.

Exercise discretion and independent judgment when handling company department information.

Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Essential Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Experience interpreting and understanding drawings

Computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word)

Detail oriented, ‘can do’ attitude, and proactive in meeting deadlines

Math skills; including calculating weights, sizes, & interpolating missing dimensions

Desirable pluses

Associate or Bachelor degree in engineering or technical field.

Hands on experience in Fabricating, welding, & sheet metal.

Programming or advanced excel skill to streamline repetitive tasks and calculations
