JOB SUMMARY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

An RF Engineer III performs a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, design, development, manufacturing, testing, installation, integration, sustainment, operation, and maintenance of diverse software, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and systems.

Employee will be responsible to perform the following functions/duties:

Perform as a lead of a development, sustainment, or operations and maintenance team on more complex engineering assignments

Coordinates with Advanced Programs and operations team members to configure and operate complex SATCOM equipment in threat/target representative range environments

Responsible for reverse engineering systems, sub-systems and line replaceable units and designs and fields repair capabilities

Independently perform a range of design, development, analysis, or review tasks under generally established project deadlines

Complete design specifications, analyses, or design reviews for complex projects

Generate complete design specifications for more complex projects

Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and support requirements

Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures

Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies

Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work

Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications

Direct interface with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities

Acts as liaison for design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications

Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendation

Perform other job-related duties, as required

WORKINGCONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations will be required.

Job Skills and Requirements:

Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program, with 2 years of directly related engineering experience. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program with at least 4 years of directly related engineering experience.

Direct Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) systems. An example of RF systems may include communications systems, navigation systems, or radiolocation systems.

Knowledge of electromagnetic wave propagation theory and modeling to include knowledge of spreading loss, reflection, refraction, diffraction, absorption, and scattering.

RF circuit design experience required. Experience with both active and passive components. Knowledge of RF amplifiers, modulators, mixers, filters, and detectors as utilized in radio transmitters and receivers.

Knowledge of antenna characteristics and design. Knowledge of TEM and TE transmission lines. Familiarity with directional couplers, circulators, and similar waveguide components.

Knowledge of amplifiers.

Technical program management experience required. A demonstrated capability to use planning, organizational, and communication skills to develop requirements, write specifications, design solutions, manage resources (to include developing schedules and budgets), and create test plans. Ability to complete projects in a timely manner and within schedule and budgetary constraints.

Excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate concepts, ideas, and design approaches effectively to customers or to collaborate with other team members using oral and written communication mediums.

Ability to read and understand electrical schematics. Knowledge of the design, fabrication, and assembly of electronic subassemblies and systems and the development of an accurate documentation package. Ability to design and fabricate electronic printed circuit boards (PCBs.)

Ability to analyze and diagnose problems with RF circuitry to include the proper use of electronic test equipment: signal generators, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and digital multi-meters.

Possess an in depth understanding of the physical sciences, including mathematics, physics, and chemistry.

Experience with computer operating systems to include Windows 10 and Linux.

Experience with computer networking, Ethernet switches and routers, IP addressing, and client-server interactions utilizing UDP/IP and TCP/IP sockets.

Familiarity with Microsoft office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, and Power Point.

Must qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and possess a valid, state issued driver's license.

Must be a US citizen

Desirable:

Knowledge of Real Time controllers in a LabVIEW environment.

Knowledge of microwave tube implementation to include Magnetrons, Klystrons, and Traveling Wave Tubes.

Knowledge of Object-Oriented programming and compliers.

Desire to continue active learning, keeping abreast of developments in current technology.
