Maintains all pertinent paramedic and medical records required by federal, state and local agencies. Acquires necessary continuing education units to maintain paramedic license.
Inspects ambulance every shift to ensure it is ready for use at all times.
Conducts ambulance training with the security emergency medical technicians to ensure that they are familiar with driving and handling the equipment in the ambulance as-required. Training is conducted weekly. All training must be documented with time and content.
Responds to all plant emergencies. Reports immediately all emergencies to the emergency response coordinator, and Safety Department.
Becomes familiar with the plant, especially aware of areas in the plant most likely to require a hazardous material response.
Active participant in the emergency response team activities, drills and training.
Inventories supplies in the ambulance and treatment room.
Provides medical care to clinic patients as requested/needed, and within the paramedic scope of practice, following treatment care guidelines set forth by the occupational health director and Borax policy / procedures. (Employee encounters, wellness checks, obesity weigh-ins, blood pressure checks, etc.)
Performs respirator fit testing.
Assists with hearing tests.
Does post-accident, pre-employment, for-cause, and random drug testing. Posts and removes expired bids, OSHA reports, etc.
Provides education to employees as needed within scope of practice.
Participates in general flow of clinic operations (answers phones, checks mail, medical records, filing, copying charts, traffic control).
Assists with noise sampling, dust sampling, and fire extinguishers.
Other duties as assigned or those duties that may be required as management deems necessary.
Must have current CA and Kern County Paramedic certification
Must have BLS, ACLS and CPR certification
3-5 years’ experience in an EMS setting
Experience at industrial work location in EMS setting preferred
Requires ability to work independently
Must possess decision making skills based on strong professional and clinical judgment.
Must be service-oriented and possess strong written and oral communications skills
Must be able to demonstrate the ability of maintaining privacy and confidentiality; critical thinking skills; and make decisions in accordance to company policy and procedures
Must have the ability to maintain a professional approach with others in job-demanding, multitasking and/or project support situations
Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences
Must have the skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Must be competent in the Windows operating system environment with the ability to learn software as needed
