Overview:Act as lead for assigned Compensation specialty area or project(s), ensuring deliverables and successful outcomes are met through proactively anticipating barriers and providing solutions.Provide complex, non-routine analytical, technical, and operational support for the Compensation Department by leveraging data from various sources and systems to identify and prioritize current and future workflow solutions and process improvement opportunities.Acts as liaison between the department and other business units on various work streams including technical, reports, conversion, change management and project management.Primary Responsibilities:Research and gather business information for relevant compensation projects to complete complex analyses to support business decisions. Influence decision-making by providing analysis, recommendations, consultation, and advice to management.

Participate in the development of new or enhanced compensation programs, methods, approaches and/or reporting consistent with organization needs and market trends.

Maintain data integrity and audit Compensation related data, ensuring data usability/reliability.

Assists with the integration and automization of HR processes. This may include assisting with identification of system requirements, user testing, developing job aids, reporting, design of measurement metrics, creation of dashboards, etc.

Develop and deliver compensation training programs, communications and management tools to facilitate the implementation of compensation programs, principles, and practices.

May partner with assigned businesses in meeting their compensation needs. Ensures that requests for pay adjustments comply with compensation policy.

Evaluates jobs, determines pay grades, participates in compensation surveys, and performs associated analysis to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.

Develop a thorough understanding of the Bank’s businesses and support functions, processes and operations to support activities responsible for. Keep abreast of business and market trends which may affect activities, including state and Federal regulatory changes.

Mentor junior staff.

Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Scope of Responsibilities:Compensation is a Center of Excellence in the Human Resources division responsible for providing compensation programs consistent with the Bank’s needs and market trends. As such, this position will support activities and projects related to the research, design and implementation of compensation programs in support of the Bank’s total reward philosophy and competitive practices.The position requires substantial interaction with both external and internal (up through senior management) contacts in order to obtain pertinent information.The position works independently under limited supervision as well as a member or a project leader of a project team.May participate in both short and long term planning for department.Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:Leadership, coaching and mentoring of junior staff.Education and Experience Required:Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in Human Resources or related field with an analytical focus,OR in lieu of a degree,A combined total of seven (7) years' higher education and relevant work experience in Human Resources or an analytical field.
