Location: Remote SENIOR Java Developer: Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. Plans and leads major technology assignments. Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments. May supervise others. Position description:

• Experience in providing direct support to projects in enabling and planning activities to upgrade to the N version of COTS tools and the RHEL 8.x operating system.
• Experience in migration and upgrade that may involve evaluating legacy code base, redesigning/recoding or updating legacy code where necessary to support upgrades and/or migrations.
• Experience in rewrite or recompile older libraries
• Experience in modifying applications if older JAVA code is deprecated and needs to be redesigned using newer methods and/or more modern techniques
• Experience in supporting project development teams in ramping up on new versions of software, development techniques, and/or helping to scope and document changes required to the legacy code base to make necessary changes required to migrate systems to standard platforms including (JBoss 6.x/7.x, Oracle DB 19c, JDK 8 upgrade to JDK 11).
• Experience in legacy project migration from web platforms (Oracle OAS, Weblogic, Websphere, etc.) to JBoss 7.x application server on Linux (REL 7.x/8.x)
• Experience in database migration from Oracle Linux to Oracle on Oracle Linux (Exadata) and/or zLinux to ensure upgrade does not break application and to close security gaps where identified
• Experience in optimizing and implementing changes to database queries, triggers, tables, and/or other PL/SQL modifications necessary to ensure upgrades/migrations do not negatively impact performance.
• Experience in upgrading Oracle Weblogic for Oracle Forms/Reports projects and assist in the replatforming of the application.
• Experience in evaluating the changes required for applications to leverage containerization (RedHat Openshift and/or Amazon EKS) and make recommendations as appropriate.
