Job Description

Project Manager, IT Manage the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple and/or large scale critical projects.
  • Manage IT projects from initiation to closeout, including business case development, project planning, design, implementation and after-action reviews.
  • Facilitate the development and ongoing management of comprehensive project planning documents and the project schedule.
  • Organize project activities to optimize the schedule while maintaining quality, scope and cost requirements.
  • Facilitate change management activities relating to project cost, scope, quality and schedule.
  • Work with management in allocating resources for each project to ensure optimal productivity.
  • Facilitate project team estimates, estimation of delivery dates of project tasks, milestones and overall project completion based on system requirements and available department resources.
  • Coordinate project tasks with project teams and all involved parties, including vendors.
  • Motivate and drive project teams.
  • Regularly compare project work completed against project planning, requirements and schedule documents.
  • Ensure that project teams routinely assess project risks and create/execute risk response plans.
  • Report project problems, risks and status to all involved parties. Work with management and project teams to resolve problems with project scope, cost and schedule.
  • Manage project budget, ensure accurate invoicing, and monitor expenditures for projects.

Project Management Process Improvement:
  • Maintain and ensure availability of IT project tracking environment.
  • Ensure IT projects conform to organization policies, procedures and methodologies, e.g. release management, change management, architecture review.
  • Identify areas for improvement in existing project management methodology as well as other IT process areas, where appropriate.
  • Review project deliverables across all functional areas.
  • Ensure IT projects are well documented and project information is properly archived.
  • Mentor and train project managers through project workshops and related documentation.

Supplemental Functions:
  • Perform additional duties as directed.
  • Maintain the practice of continuous improvement and education by attending seminars, etc. and remaining current on new leadership skills.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing related professional publications.
