Our client is a fast-growing diagnostic solutions company specializing in cutting-edge methods geared towards precision medicine. They are seeking a Licensed Medical Lab Technician to join their team. This would be an exciting and challenging role for a Licensed Medical Lab Technician.

SALARY/HOURLY RATE:

$35/hr - $40/hr (DOE)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Licensed Medical Lab Technician performs pre-analytical processes and assists with the analytical procedures for patient testing. The Licensed Medical Lab Technician (MLT) performs tests and interprets results only under the direct supervision of a qualified Medical Technologist. The Licensed Medical Lab Technician will work the 3rd shift from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 6:00 am.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LICENSED MEDICAL LAB TECHNICIAN:

Assists with processing for all test methods approved by CAP and CLIA under the supervision of a qualified Medical Technologist

Biological specimen preparation, labeling, preservation or fixation, and processing according to established SOPs

Performs moderate to high complexity tests according to established protocols

Prepares and stores specimens, reagents, and culture media

Works closely with Technologists and reports all problems to a Lead, General Supervisor, and/or Lab Director

Assists with routine instrument maintenance and daily preventative maintenance activities

Disposes of biohazardous waste according to standard procedures

Organizes patient specimens and assay worksheets for testing and technologist review

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE LICENSED MEDICAL LAB TECHNICIAN:

MUST possess an active Florida license in the assigned test specialty

0 - 2 years of work experience in a CAP/CLIA accredited laboratory

Experience in troubleshooting specimens

Experience with molecular AND microbiology laboratory

Experience in handling human specimens

Strong hands-on experience in pipetting, PCR, aseptic technique, being able to prevent specimen contamination

Must be open to working an extended schedule as needed

Independent and matured individual

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field or an Associate’s degree and completion of an approved clinical laboratory training program
