Job SummaryAs a member of the Civil Systems Group you will be part of an experienced team of scientists and engineers working together to advance the mission of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (DNN). In addition to supporting our team performing independence reviews and assessments of federally funded research activities you will contribute to our other competencies: architecting, integrating, assessing, and analyzing technical activities across organizations working in the nonproliferation community. This work requires an interest and passion in nonproliferation research, development, and analysis. What You'll Be Doing
- Collaborating with others you will be building, and leading portions of, the team to perform Independent Assessments of DNN R&D's research portfolio
- Collaborating with others you will assist in objectively analyzing current and potentially future activities as directed by DNN R&D
- Performing project management activities that utilize technical capabilities across Aerospace to address DNN R&D program challenges
- Writing reports for senior Department of Energy audiences, including Secretary-level, to document findings
- BS degree from an accredited program in Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
- At least 12 years of progressively responsible and related experience in R&D, testing and evaluation, systems analysis, systems engineering, radiochemistry, nuclear chemistry/engineering, or a related field
- 1-2 years in project and/or program management
- Experience working with U.S. government agencies such as DOE, NNSA, or DoD
- Availability to travel domestically, up to 15%
- Superior interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
- MS or PhD degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in managing research and development activities
- Experience or a specialization in nuclear materials or data research
- Familiarity/experience with analysis of potential proliferation activities globally
- Demonstrated ability to self-manage efforts and solve problems
- Evidence of success working in a team environment with federal governmental organizations
- Currently hold or qualified for active Q or TS clearance
