We are seeking an Offensive cyber operator for our Fort Meade facility.X8 seeks a offensive cyber operations expert with demonstrated skills in tactical operations, mission planning, CONOP development, capability pairing, mission analysis and access generation. The selectee will evaluate and recommend TTPs, COAs, CONOPs and evaluate mission OPSEC considerations in support of current operations. The Cyber Ops Expert will assist various Combat Mission Teams (CMTs) in documenting and refining CONOPs by considering capabilities and tools delivered to assigned to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ-C) and identify potential deficiencies or opportunities to improve operational outcomes. X8 employees work with a smart, dynamic and growing DoD customer, actually changing how cyber operations are conducted.This position directly supports operations and the fielding of operational capabilities being deployed now.

Position Duties:
  • Guide the development and selection of successful mission plans, TTPs, OPSEC measures and CONOPs by leveraging years of working in cyber operational environments.
  • Bridge the gap between capability development planning and operations keeping operational units under support informed of development efforts that could better support their needs.
  • Use current CMT TTPs and/or propose modifications for adoption, to ensure viable access vectors.
  • Work with multiple units to understand and recommend possible COAs for operations, capturing the expected outcomes, limitations, and extent of those operations.
  • Educate CMTs members about the opportunities new and emerging USCYBERCOM capabilities bring to mission planning. Ensure mission planning leverages new automated processes saving valuable time and resources.
  • Conduct operational research projects, assess capabilities, access vectors or analytical techniques to assist the teams. Document opinions and help integrate new capabilities into future calculations made by the CMTs under support.
  • Produce artifacts compatible with USCYBERCOM Mission Approval processed, to include but not limited to: IKE entries; Joint Cyber Tactics Manual (JCTM) entries; Jira tickets and SOPs
  • Provide informed advocacy, writing, and teamwork with other cyberspace SMEs to help think beyond normal boundaries to problem solve deployment issues with your team mates and the CMTs. Propose solutions that meet or exceed the needs of the customer.

Position Requirements:
  • Experience in work roles like interactive operator (ION), exploitation analyst (EA), infrastructure watch operator (IWO), Silo Tech, access operator, JMOC-LNO, CND analyst, network engineer, cyber security analyst, SWO, DNEA, developer and/or similar work roles
  • Familiarity with a broad range of topics in cyber space operations including operations, analysis, development, information technology, requirements refinement, architecture development, networking and/or systems analysis (highly desired)
  • Strong understanding of and familiarity with JIRA and Confluence and related tools
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical leaders

  • Familiarity with various computer Operating Systems, both Windows and NIX variants (i.e. Windows 10, CentOS, Kali, Ubuntu, RedHat, etc)
  • Understanding of DoD and/or IC cyber operations processes
  • Familiarity with programming in scripting languages like (Perl,Python, Shell, PowerShell, etc.), experience with code review and testing of the above languages above mentioned desired.

Education/Experience:
  • 8 years relevant experience working in USCYBERCOM, NSA or other IC partners in cyberspace operations, analysis, cyber defense and/or capability development
  • BS/MS in a technical field like; Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or Software Engineering).
  • No Degree? No worries - three (2) additional years relevant work experience as described above
  • Certifications like CEH, SEC+, CISSP, GIAC Certified Penetration Tester (GPEN), Offensive Security Certified Professional, Certified Penetration Tester (CPT) and similar are hiring desired.

Clearance:

  • TS/SCI/Poly required for immediate consideration

Travel: This position will operate primarily out of Fort Meade, MD area, with some travel to sites in the local area. Travel to San Antonio, TX or Augusta, GA may be required once or twice a year.
