Enhanced Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (E-VDI) Client Services Subject Matter Expert: The E-VDI Client Services SME reports to the Senior Program Manager and provides Information Security and Assurance, Risk and Vulnerability Assessment and Management, Incident Handling and Response Management, Maintenance for all currently installed client instances of PACAF's virtual infrastructure across the Pacific Theater. The E-VDI Client Service SME's will support the Senior Program Manager and have demonstrated experience:
  • Manage the life cycle and sustainment of hardware utilized in support of PACAF's virtual environment. Determine unit level needs for development and growth in support of critical cyber requirements. Provide monthly status reports and daily as required by Senior PM.
  • Coordinate with outside vendor technical leads in resolution of critical outages affecting virtual availability to users.
  • Implement controls, CONOPS, Access Control, Configuration Management, Incident Response, Risk Assessment, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform test and training procedure development, vulnerability patching, STIG implementation, application testing and incorporation for users.
  • Deploy technologies in coordination and technically in line with the AF Reference Architecture Designs. This includes AF Standard Desktop Configuration, upgrades, patching, and ensuring network compliance with AF standards.
  • Provide detailed assessments for sizing, deploying, and managing client services, image requirements, user data storage, with the broad understanding of SAN leaders to include EMC, NetApp and Dell Compellent. Should possess the broad understanding of Hyper-Converged solutions such as Nutanix and EVO. Should possess a broad understanding of pure flash storage VDI-specific solutions such as Tintri and Nimble Storage.
  • Assist with the implementation of a VDI Client Operational Test/Checklist and E-VDI Client System Test Plan, to include System Stability Test, Zero Client Power Test, Functionality of Email, SharePoint, Task Management Tool, and Server Power Test.
  • Provide sustainment of virtual capabilities in an austere, and disconnected, disadvantaged and intermittent location where bandwidth and access creates unique challenges. This includes large areas and land masses that are disconnected and separated.
  • Handle Customer support and troubleshooting for E-VDI client hardware and software and coordinating with Government Network Control Centers and Higher Headquarters.
  • Deploy and sustain of Teradici PC over Internet Protocol (PCoIP) technologies. The PCoIP compresses, encrypts and rapidly transports image pixels to PCoIP end-user devices. They in turn decrypt, decompress and display the image on a screen. Includes adding new devices, updating firmware, adding policies
  • Perform first line trouble-shooting activities (if required) for installed environments in conjunction with remote enterprise technicians and local base technicians.

Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weight up to thirty (30) pounds.
