We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Designer to be responsible for efficient production of CAD models and drawings of mechanical parts and assemblies from engineering inputs for test cells, wind tunnels, and other aerospace ground test facilities.Hybrid Work Schedule!CAD Modeling- Create detailed models for parts using parametric and associative modeling techniques, including welded steel structures, pressure vessels, piping systems, simple and complex mechanisms, rotating equipment, and process equipment. Check fits and clearances for both assembly and normal operating conditions. Provide initial sizing and layout definition in close collaboration with engineers.

Drawing/Drafting – Create detailed fabrication drawings from linked model using drawing templates and internal standards (Y14.5 based) to control manufacturing, assembly and quality requirements. Detail with notes and tolerances that are appropriate for part function and manufacturing capabilities.

Budget and Schedule Management –Prioritize tasks and minimize rework to ensure projects stay within labor budgets and schedule. Coordinate with project team to ensure cohesiveness while remaining accountable on drawing release commitments.

BOM & Releases – Manage the drawing and BOM (Bill of Material) release process. Initiate the release workflow found in PDM (Product Data Management) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). Communicate to stakeholders (sub-contracts, procurement, assembly, & installation) when drawings or BOMs are released.

Part Selection – Identify, research and select commercially available parts when appropriate to minimize need for custom fabrications.

Support – Provide guidance to fabrication, procurement, assembly and installation teams and support updates to models and drawings.

Preferred Education / Experience:Associates degree in related discipline

3+ years of related experience or;

A combination of education and experience equivalent to above

Due to security requirements, US Citizen or US Person status required

Valid passport

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:Proficient with 3D CAD modeling. SolidWorks experience preferred.

Proficient with mechanical systems and weldments.

Experience with PDM and ERP systems.

Proficient with GD&T and ANSI Y14.5 drafting standards.

Experience with fabrication methods including forming, welding, machining, and additive manufacturing.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills and positive attitude.

Must be a self-starter, able to balance priorities between multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to work effectively and productively as an individual contributor and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Ability to travel 5% - international/domestic
