New Priorities Family Services is seeking a MALE Recovery Mentor/Peer Specialist to work in our nonprofit Mental Health & Addictions outpatient program. This position will provide mentoring/peer support services to the substance abusing client and their family. Also, there is the opportunity to be able to obtain certification to assist mental health clients if interested and you meet the requirements. This position is for a peer mentor so the person will need to be in recovery.

Minimum required qualifications include: 1) documented abstinence; 2) ACCBO certification for Addictions Recovery Mentor or willing to acquire certification within 45 days of being hired (NPFS will send/pay for successful candidate to required trainings); 3) Valid driver license and proof of current auto insurance. Applicant must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screening. (not necessarily eliminated due to past history). High School diploma or GED.

Successful Candidate must be committed to working with diverse community populations and community resources. Days/hours vary. Will be some evening hours.

Recovery Mentor duties will consist of the following (not be limited to):

Direct interactions with clients who are assigned to recovery. Transportation: taking clients to some appointments, when appropriate, if approved by supervisor. COVID restrictions apply.

Collaborate with treatment team, agency, client's support networks, and community providers to address the needs of clients

Helping monitor clients who are in residential (and detox) and incarcerated to stay connected with them and ensure that they remain connected to NPFS.

Helping clinicians with groups at the office. Assisting other treatment activities.

Helping clients develop and connect to non-using recovery activities (how to have fun clean and sober).

Conduct urinary analysis on clients as needed.

Work independently and as a team member. Must have the ability to get along with co-workers and community partners. Ability to function in crisis situations. The recovery mentor will maintain a personal recovery program as well as model recovery-appropriate behavior.

Job Types: Part-time work or full-time Pay/Benefits: $19.00-20.00 per hour to start, depending on training and experience. Stipend for fuel/other expenses. Additional benefits include paid holidays, sick leave pay, Personal day, medical insurance, trainings. New Hire Bonus available.

COVID-19 considerations:

Currently, NPFS is providing face to face appointments and/or tele medical services. Protocols for safety of clients and staff are in place. We are a health place facility outpatient program so NPFS staff must be vaccinated and current boosters.
